Hereditary Hair Loss

Hair LossWe carry over the counter hair loss products for both men and women. However, we receive a lot of questions asking us about hair loss in areas other than the top of the scalp. Rogaine and Minoxidil have not bee approved by the FDA to regrow hair in any areas other than the top of the human scalp. If your hair loss appears on the top of your head, as in this picture, and you have hair loss somewhere in your family (on either your mother or father’s side) then Rogaine or Minoxidil may work for you. If and how well it may work for you depends on a number of different factors. The most important factor is how soon after the thinning of the hair on your scalp you start treatment. Studies have shown that the sooner you begin using Rogine or Minoxidil, the more effective they will be.

Hair LossHereditary hair loss, or hair loss that can be found in your family lineage is different than spotty hair loss. Spotty hair loss, or balding areas that appear on the side of the scalp, are not usually due to hereditary factors and are usually caused by diet, stress, or other medications. If you are experiencing spotty hair loss, then you should consult your physician about possible treatments. This may also be a sign of some deficiency or physical problem. In this case, Rogaine and Minoxidil are not an option to help regrow your hair.

[…] Betty asks…Can you reverse or stop hereditary hair loss?My hubby is still in his 20’s and his hair is already receding. Is there anyway to stop or improve this naturally???Micah answers:Yes you can! This NATURAL, safe remedy stops thinning & loss almost straight away and forces new growth. My hair has completely regrown on crown. Where receded at front regrowth is slower, but has grown a lot and though sparse at beginning, each month it becomes denser. Massage thoroughly with natural oils - olive oil is excellent - then brush vigorously using a brush with stiff short bristles so you really feel it stimulating scalp (90 /100 strokes or even more each day focusing on where loss is). Will unplug blocked hair ducts indicated by painful small spots like pimples and a cause of hair loss and It will grow faster, thicker and It will force the new growth. Brushing before you apply oil is equally OK. A little shedding and breakage may occur at first but quickly stops as hair gets anchored and stronger. Initially hairs will be weak looking and sparse. Don’t be concerned if brushing uproots them as they will re-appear even stronger. It demands perseverance week in, week out to get the same results. I’ve found most do not persevere and so fail to get them. Genetics probably are a factor in hair loss. My immediate family members have severe loss. I m loosing hair really fast at very young age and I see no end to it. Can anyone suggest me if there is any treatment to help stop it.Micah answers:Hey, sorry to hear you’re going through losing your hair at such a young age. Maybe there’s a solution for you I can share, so read on. Hereditary hair loss does not happen overnight, which means that treatment can be started immediately when it is detected. A condition called androgenetic alopecia affects about ninety-five percent of all males and about seventy percent of all females. This condition is hereditary, and it can affect you no matter what your race or ethnicity is. Androgenetic alopecia can be treated by surgically transplanting hair onto the affected areas. This procedure can be expensive though and can take a long while for recovery. However, the results have been good for quite a number of men and women that have undergone the treatment. Minoxidil, a chemical that has been proven to increase hair growth and stop hair loss is another avenue. Minoxidil is applied twice a day and is available commercially as a lotion. Yet another hair treatment is finasteride, which is available as a pill. Finasteride, which is often prescribed for men who are going through male pattern baldness, can block hormone formation that would allow for hair to be lost through weakening of the hair follicle. Hope this helps.Powered by Yahoo! 5. Micah Just Answer Your Questions About How To Stop Hair Loss From Medication | Hair Thickening Products Says:

[…] Robert asks…Can hair loss from various anti-anxiety medications be reversed?I started seeing a psychiatrist when I was 16-17 years old for anxiety related issues. I’m 20 years old now, and in those 3-4 years I have taken many types of anti-anxiety / anti-depressant medications: Zoloft, Lexapro, Propranolol (beta-blockers), Paxil, Prozac, etc. The reason why I stopped taking these medications–the last medication I was on was Paxil–is because of the many physical and mental effects it had on my body such as weight gain, slurred speech, insomnia, continuous daze, and thinning / dry hair. It has been about three months since I’ve been off all medication entirely. My doctor and other reliable resources have told me the above are all common symptoms of most of these meds, but I can not get a straight answer as to whether these symptoms are irreversible or not, which leads to a few, clear questions I have: 1. Are the effects (preferably hair loss) of these medications reversible? 2. If so, how long would it be for my body to straighten out / clear all the chemicals from my body? (keep in mind the continuous 3-4 years I’ve been taking these medications) 3. Are there any other permanent effects of any or all the medications mentioned above? Thank you in advance. Well defined, reliable answers from experience or study are appreciated!Micah answers:Most oral or ingested drugs clear your system within a few months, and maximum of 6 months in your blood depending on the drug.. But i should mention that most of the medications you have mentioned have lawsuits against them due to serious side effects.. Listed a site with a list of side effects on some of the drugs you mentioned.John asks…I am suffering from hair loss . Is my over masturbation the cause? What should I do?I am 25 years old. I have been loosing some hair from the time I was 19. In the past two years, it has gotten so worse. The frontal hairline is slowly disappearing and I can no longer apply oil or gel to my hair.Every time I see in the mirror,it hurts. I think about hair all the time. I am not sure if genetics is the only reason I am loosing hair.Sadly I am addicted to masturbation and I have been doing it twice a day for past two years. I tried to stop it but it has become a chronic addiction. I am working really hard to let go of this horrible habit. I have been taking hairloss medication finasteride (7 months)and minoxidil (2 months). I am not sure if they are working, because I see my hair becoming thinner each day. I am not a success in life. I don’t have a girl friend and now I am starting to look old. This depression is becoming so unbearable that I sometimes think of ending my life. But I am too afraid to do it. I am not exaggerating. I have tried talking to my mother , but all she can say is that everything will be ok. Please , someone tell me what to do.. I am not a teenager to make mistakes and learn from them. I am already going on 25. I don’t see how I can carry on further with this depression on my mind. Will it help if I stop masturbation? Are the medications making the depression worse?Micah answers:Yes. Try rubbing your bald spot with your ejaculate next time you masturbate.Sandra asks…How to avoid hereditary hair loss?So my dad, his dad and his two sons (my half brothers) all have ‘male pattern baldness’ where the hair recedes from the forehead. My mum was adopted so I dont know if her father or grandfather lost their hair. I havent started losing my hair yet as far as I know, but I am so scared of it happening. I dont think I would be able to live with it. How can I stop this from happening? Let’s face it, eating healthily wont stop it. Is there a medication that I will be able to get free on the NHS?Micah answers:Look millions and millions of people before us including me wish we can do something about it. But the plain and simple fact is, it does not work. Genes are what we are given and not what we can choose. We have to work with what we have. There are many bald men that have achieved great things in life. Read their stories and see that it does not have to be bad because you are bald. There are many medications that are suggested and I have tried them all before. Only thing that happened is my wallet became lighter. My suggestion is to start saving today. When things get bad then you can either choose hair transplants or wigs. Both are extra ordinary these days. They are not the same as it was during our fore fathers times. Do not waste time worrying. Instead start living, have fun and plan for the future to help yourself when it does happen so you can address issues. Why loose precious present now by worrying !!?Powered by Yahoo!
