Rogaine - Possible Side Effects

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Just as with any drug or treatment you use, Rogaine has some possible side effects that you should be aware of in the event you detect one. For the most part Rogaine’s potential side effects are minimal and should not cause you great alarm. The most common side effect of Rogaine use on the scalp is dry, irritated skin on the top of the scalp. If you are using Rogaine and start to feel some discomfort on your scalp, discontinue use immediately. If you are using 5% Rogaine for Men, you may want to try using the 2% formula as some people are more sensitive to the 5% than others. You can read more about Rogaine and possible side effects on our Rogaine FAQ.

Rogaine 2% for Women

Monday, April 25th, 2005

For the women out there who are dealing with hair loss, there is help. Rogaine has been approved by the FDA for use by women in a 2% topical solution. Rogaine for Women is designed to be used by women who are suffering from a general loss of hair or thinning of the hair on the top of the scalp. Rogaine is not for women who have lost a patch of hair. Just like Rogaine for men, Rogaine for Women is for women who have a history of hair loss in their family. The hair loss can be on either side of your family and the old tale about hair loss being inherited from the mother’s side is unsubstatiated. If you fit this description, then Rogaine may help you to slow down your hair loss, stop it completely or even regrow your hair in some cases. The sooner you use Rogaine the better. Studies have shown that the earlier you treat your hair loss, the better your results will be.

Why Rogaine for Women?

Rogaine for women is the only FDA approved medication to treat hair loss in women. Rogaine has helped millions of women around the world to deal with their hair loss. Will Rogaine work for you if you have a history of hair loss and are suffering from general hair loss? Nobody knows. The only way to find out if Rogaine will work for you is to try it.

How to Use Rogaine

Rogaine is applied twice a day to the scalp. Once in the morning and once at night. It is a liquid that is made up mostly of alcohol so that it will evaporate quickly and be easily spread across the top of your scalp. Rogaine must be used for a period of at least 4 months (preferably more) to see if Rogaine will work for you. Using it for less time is a waste. You can color your hair, perm it or do anything else that you can dream of. Rogaine will not be affected by this.

Is there a 5% Solution for Women?

We are often asked if there is a 5% Rogaine solution for women. The answer is no. There were trials conducted by Pharmacia Corporation and in the end, it appears that there was no noticeable difference between the 2% solution and the 5% solution as was seen in men.

Minoxidil 2% Order Status

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

We know that many of you have been waiting patiently for the backordered 2% Minoxidil. We are happy to announce that we were able to procure 10 cases of 2% Minoxidil four packs today and we should take delivery of them in about 7 business days. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you, but it is becoming increasingly difficult these days to find a reliable source for 2% Minoxidil. The overall demand for this product is not that high as many people use the 5% solution and do not have a need for the 2%. We hope that this is the last time we will run into these supply issues, but know that if history is any indication of the future, we will at some point. Thank you for your patience.

Rogiane 2% vs. Rogaine 5% Extra Strength

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Most people assume that more is better and when it comes to hair loss solutions, people definitely believe this. Rogaine for Men comes in two flavors, 2% and 5% extra strength. The 5% solution of Minoxidil is available for men only as the FDA has not approved 5% for wommen (and probably never will as it has not been shown to grow hair more quickly in women). But, 5% Extra Strength Rogaine may not be a better fit for you if you have a sensitive or dry scalp. The 5% solution is a bit more harsh and can cause some irritation on the scalp. We would recommend you try the 5% first to see how your fair (most men have no adverse reactions to the 5% Rogaine). If you experience any irritation on your scalp, discontinue using the product immediately, take some time off, and then you may want to try the 2% Rogaine for Men.

Rogaine 5% has been shown to work up to 40% more quickly than 2%, so it is obviously better at helping people suffering from hair loss. You can read more about both 2% and 5% Rogaine for Men on our website. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email us at info@minoxidil4less.com.

Men’s Minoxidil vs. Women’s Minoxidil

Thursday, March 3rd, 2005

We receive quite a few questions from people about Men’s Minoxidil and how it differs from Women’s Minoxidil. To answer those questions, the 2% Minoxidil we sell is the same for both men and women. It is a 2% topical solution of Minoxidil and there is no difference in the formula from the men’s to the women’s. However, the 5% Minoxidil is another story. 5% Minoxidil has only been approved by the FDA for use by men. My rep at Pharmacia Corp. (the original makers of Rogaine) told me that 5% Rogaine/Minoxidil did not show better results when used on women, as it did on men. This was the reason that there is no 5% Rogaine or 5% Minoxidil for women. So, if you are worried about using 2% Minoxidil for men and you are a woman, don’t worry.

Minoxidil vs Rogaine - Is There A Difference?

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

For years, Rogaine was the only over the counter hair loss solution available to treat hair loss in both men and women. About 3 years ago, the patents on Rogaine were removed and the generic market for Minoxidil opened up. Soon after major pharmeceutical manufacturers like Bauch and Lomb began to produce Minoxidil for generic retail sale. Unfortunately for them, there were many other people who had the same idea and the market was soon flooded with generic Rogine product. This was great for consumers as Minoxidil was plentiful and cheap. But, the question still remained, was Minoxidil different than Rogaine?

The answer is that Rogaine and Minoxidil are exactly the same. I was told this by our representative at Pharmacia & Upjohn, the makers of Rogaine. Now Pharmacia is owned by Pfizer, but the product is still the same. So, you can purchase Minoxidil as a low cost substitute to Rogaine and rest assured that it is just as effective as the brand name Rogaine.
