The History of Shampoo?

Well, I am not sure who invented shampoo and I don't think you are going to find anyone who knew them either. Some say the history of shampoo starts in Hindu culture with the word "Champu" which means to massage or knead. Does this mean that the Hindus were the first one to make shampoo? Not as far as I can tell. Perhaps it was the Indians or native Americans who first invented a hair cleanser. I am really not sure.
